Look Out - Look Up

Image
This letter is intended to be a warning to all who read it.   The purpose of this letter is to awaken us to what is going on around us.   For most readers this letter will scare you, anger you, and even offend you.   Unfortunately the truth can often times be very scary and very offensive.   My prayer for those who read this is that a fire will be lit in your souls, you will sell out to God, and you will let him prepare you for what is coming.   We desperately need His help and divine intervention in the coming hour. LOOK OUT             Today is January 1 st , 2013, and I feel something very strange.   I have an uneasiness in my spirit.   I feel as if something ominous is lurking and that my family may be in danger.   I do not like what I feel.   While I have had similar feelings before, this one is strangely differen...

Is it Possible?

Image
Is it possible that God would close down the whole world just to get the attention of all His followers?  Is it possible that God loves His children so much that He would briefly abandon the rest of humanity in a last-ditch effort to save those who have strayed from the truth? I believe the answer can easily be seen in Matthew 18:12-14. It says, "If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them wanders away, what will he do?  Won't he leave the ninety-nine others on the hills and go out to search for the one that is lost?  And if he finds it, I tell you the truth, he will rejoice over it more than over the ninety-nine that didn't wander away!  In the same way, it is not my heavenly Father's will that even one of these little ones should perish." Stick with me on this while I explain where I am coming from.  In these verses, the shepherd leaves the entire flock on the hills as he looks for the one lost (wayward) sheep.   Point one: One sheep went astray Poi...

Jonah

Image
We just finished our family devotion studying the book of Jonah. It is amazing the similarities between Nineveh at that time and America today. Nineveh was given 40 days to repent of their sins and turn from their wicked ways or God was going to destroy the city. It is worth noting here that God was obligated to hand out this punishment to Nineveh because of their sin. As a righteous judge, he is obligated to punish. On the other hand, as a righteous God, he is equally obligated to reward obedience. Nineveh had one last opportunity to change. When Jonah finally relented and warned the people, there was a great move towards repentance. I find it interesting that the king himself stepped down off of his throne, took off his royal robes, dressed in burlap, and sat on a heap of ashes. The leader of the land stepped out of the role of authority and stepped into the role of leadership towards repentance. Because of his leadership, the people of Nineveh followed suit, and the c...

STOP

Image
The church must stop what it is doing and call upon God.   The only hope for America is for believers to cry out to God for mercy and forgiveness.   As the church goes, so goes America.   Nineveh had 40 days to repent before its destruction.   Likewise, America’s days are numbered unless the nation repents.   The onus of repentance falls upon the church.   The church MUST put a stop to all the structured, planned out, man-made, life-less, ritualistic services they think God is pleased with.   We need to enter the building, fall on our faces before a merciful God, and seek His mercy and forgiveness on behalf of a nation about to be judged.   Please understand this; God does not want your worship right now.   Your singing does not please him right now because that is not what he is asking for.   Your religiously structured actions are making Him sick.   Ame...

The Masterpiece

Image
On a cool, rainy autumn afternoon, the aging carpenter sat in his workshop thinking about all the things he had made over the years.  His hands, once strong and flexible, could mold and shape wood into anything his mind could dream up.  Now, the mounting years and the cool weather brought pain to his hands.  His fingers struggled to hold a firm grasp on the tools which had virtually become part of him for so many years.  His mind still dreamed and created, but his body was worn and tired.  The thought of closing the doors of the workshop for good was not something he would allow himself to consider.  However, time and strength were no longer his faithful companions.  He decided to compromise.  He would find an apprentice, someone with skill and eagerness to learn.  He would share the visions of his mind with the young man and teach him how to transform these visions into amazing works of art.  There was one particular piece the old man...

What Every Church Should Be Preaching Right Now

Image
Joel 2: 12-17 says, “That is why the Lord says, ‘Turn to me now, while there is time.   Give me your hearts.   Come with fasting, weeping, and mourning.   Don’t tear your clothing in your grief, but tear your hearts instead.’   Return to the Lord your God, for he is merciful and compassionate, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love.   He is eager to relent and not punish.   Who knows?   Perhaps he will give you a reprieve, sending you a blessing instead of this curse.   Perhaps you will be able to offer grain and wine to the Lord your God as before.   Blow the ram’s horn in Jerusalem!   Announce a time of fasting; call the people together for a solemn meeting.   Gather all the people-the elders, the children, and even the babies.   Call the bridegroom from his quarters and the bride from her private room.   Let the priests, who minister in the Lord’s presence, stand and weep between the entry room to the T...

A Letter To The Church

Image
A LETTER TO THE CHURCH             I pray this letter finds all of you doing well.   I pray that you are healthy in body, mind, and spirit.   I will keep this letter as brief as possible because I know your time is precious.   For a long time now I have felt the call to write a letter to all the local churches to express my concern for the condition of God’s church in general.   I believe what I am about to say to all of you is from the heart of God to His people.    It is a cry of His heart to His church.   Please read this and evaluate it carefully.             First, I believe America has stepped into a time of great turmoil.   Right now we can see the beginning of this.   It is about to become even worse.   I know this comes as no surprise to any of you, but what comes as a surprise to me is that most church...

The Fight

Image
America has fought many battles throughout its history.  Many wars have been waged, many lives have been lost.  Many men and women throughout history have been willing to give everything, even their lives, to defend our great nation.  Much like America, the church has fought many battles throughout history.  Many have willingly given everything, even their lives to stand for the kingdom of God and His church.  Even still today the battle rages on.  Many men and women have enlisted in the fight, yet, even more are needed.  On fact must be realized, the battles fought by both America and the church have been won over the years because so many were willing to stand on the battlefield and face the enemy head-on.  Those victories were not obtained by those sitting at home, hiding under their beds hoping things would change.  Nor were they won by those who were half-hearted in their commitment to fight.  The battles were won ...

As in the Days of Noah

Image
Matthew 4:36-39 says, "But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only.  But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.  For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be". I have always read this scripture and pictured people getting married.  I wondered, "what significance do people getting married have to do with the coming of the Lord?"  I just thought it was saying people would keep getting married and having children right up to the end!  Life would be normal all the way through. It wasn't until the other day I actually understood what this scripture was talking about.  And, unfortunately, it came to me because of what I saw at a local church on...

I am speaking Are your ears covered? Is your stomach too full? Push away from the table Hunger for me Listen for my voice Listen for my call You say you love me, but your ears are full of noise Your stomach is full of food How can I reach you? My Word is life, but you are full of this world, It's fear, It's difficulties, It's sin Come away from those things and close out the noise Listen to me I want to speak to you -God

The "Nonessential" church

Image
One of the most devastating things about the Coronavirus is that the church of today has been declared "nonessential."  While all religious services around the world were closed, the biggest shock was how the Christian church, the church supposedly serving the Living God, was shut down and told they could not meet together.  The church, which declares they are full of the same power that raised Christ from the dead, was pushed into the corner with all the other religions and told to stay home.  Even more shocking than this was how almost every pastor and church leader blindly accepted this sentence without question.  They said, "It is only for a short time, we will be back together soon."  I even heard a pastor say, "The government is not telling us we can't serve God, they just want us to meet online for a few weeks."  So, the church calmly closed its doors and quietly accepted the label of "nonessential" Sadly, the church has earned thi...
