Victory

Blessed is the one who remains true to me in the coming tests and trials.  I have set you apart to fight the battle and win the victory.  You will win, but it will be a test of your strength and your faith in me.  My hand will guide you and I will lift you above the struggle.  My arm is not short and I am not weak.  "Be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might."  Truly put on the whole armor of God so you can fight and win this battle.  Set aside the things of this world and focus on me.  Those who put their trust in me will not fall and their plans will not fail.  I will be with you through this fire says the Lord.  I am the Great and Mighty God of Heaven, and I cannot lose, I WILL not lose.  I cannot be defeated, and neither can you if you trust in me. Victory is in my hand says the Lord!
Remember, you must separate yourself from this world, for where your treasure is there your heart will be also.  Set your heart on me.  I am Faithful and True and I cannot fail.

          Matthew 4:36-39 says, "But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only.  But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.  For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be". I have always read this scripture and pictured people getting married.  I wondered, "what significance do people getting married have to do with the coming of the Lord?"  I just thought it was saying people would keep getting married and having children right up to the end!  Life would be normal all the way through. Jonah

We just finished our family devotion studying the book of Jonah. It is amazing the similarities between Nineveh at that time and America today. Nineveh was given 40 days to repent of their sins and turn from their wicked ways or God was going to destroy the city. It is worth noting here that God was obligated to hand out this punishment to Nineveh because of their sin. As a righteous judge, he is obligated to punish. On the other hand, as a righteous God, he is equally obligated to reward obedience. Nineveh had one last opportunity to change. When Jonah finally relented and warned the people, there was a great move towards repentance. I find it interesting that the king himself stepped down off of his throne, took off his royal robes, dressed in burlap, and sat on a heap of ashes. On a cool, rainy autumn afternoon, the aging carpenter sat in his workshop thinking about all the things he had made over the years.  His hands, once strong and flexible, could mold and shape wood into anything his mind could dream up.  Now, the mounting years and the cool weather brought pain to his hands.  His fingers struggled to hold a firm grasp on the tools which had virtually become part of him for so many years.  His mind still dreamed and created, but his body was worn and tired.  The thought of closing the doors of the workshop for good was not something he would allow himself to consider.  However, time and strength were no longer his faithful companions.  He decided to compromise.  He would find an apprentice, someone with skill and eagerness to learn.  He would share the visions of his mind with the young man and teach him how to transform these visions into amazing works of art.  There was one particular piece the old man...
